My
name is Amanda Campbell. I have been involved with dogs all
my life. It has never mattered how large or small, when there
is a dog by my side I’m happy. When I was 4 years old
I started riding and showing horses which I did for many years.
At 10 years old, my dog and I got a Therapy title through our
local Humane Society. I was able to take my dog to nursing homes.
In
2005 I moved to California and attended Exotic Animal training
school. The school concentrated on teaching it’s students
animal husbandry and animal behavior, giving each student the
ability to train animals for the movies and commercials, which
is a very interesting profession.
For
the last 4 ½ years I have been involved in a sport called
Schutzhund. I was lucky to meet my friend and mentor Phil Hoelcher.
I go and train with Phil and work my competition dog Rita May
and get ready for upcoming trails. Schutzhund consists of three
phases- Tracking, Obedience and Protection. I am currently a
member of DVG America, AWDF, and USA Schutzhund. I am the 2007
Regional Champion and have placed first in 3 out of the 5 trials
that I have competed in. After working with Phil for a little
while I decided to open up Alpha Canine and put to the test
what I have learned.
